Terry Wogan once famously dismissed his millions of listeners, instead, insisting that he had just one lone person tuning into his radio show. He knew this listener intimately; he knew their likes and dislikes, he knew what they found interesting and he knew what made them laugh and cry. The same principle can be applied to social posting: Spend some time listening to your following and grasping exactly who they are, form a picture of who this person is – give him or her a name – then ensure all posts are part of an ongoing conversation between the two of you.
